Imagine Health

Hello from Journey Well,

It brings me so much joy to sit writing this message in preparation for all the changes coming. It has been a long time coming, from welcoming baby Rally Estelle to moving to a new home, and getting situated with new projects in the community. When I started Journey Well I knew I wanted to be intentional about forming a collective impact in the community. Encouraged by the Wendell Berry essay Health Is Membership to imagine a healthy community.

Next weekend JUNE 1st, we will be moving into a new office space with more treatment rooms and a … SAUNA !! Taylor Moree of Intuitive Eating and Bodywork and Journey Well will combine our schedules so that my clients will have access to the option of sauna time before or after a massage session. Scheduling link coming soon!!

Our new address : 723 Main St., Suite B North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.

(just on the other side of the police station in downtown North Wilkesboro )

When I sit in my Metta meditation, a compassion practice I picked up from studying Thai Massage, I imagine my own heart felt loving- kindness, extend it to family, friends, community, and ultimately the whole cosmos.

A quote from a body worker. I admire her philosophy and approach:

“Go around the problem: get the system sufficiently resilient so that it is able to change, and it will change.  It doesn’t have to be forced. It’s that forcing that you will have to avoid at all costs.”

–Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.

This quote resonates so much with my being. Building resiliency is the goal, and it comes from so many different people working together to imagine health. I am one of those people that juggles multiple things at once. Yes, I am constantly trying to find balance with my tendency to be stretched to thin, but a shift in perspective can be helpful too. I see how things are connected or could potentially be bridged to build resiliency.

It wasn’t until I listened to a Ted Talk presenter who kind of coined a term “ multipotentialite”, for someone who doesn’t really know what they want to be when they grow up. Those people who have a range of different jobs or interests over a lifetime.

I hope to spend the summer building up to more consistent week day hours in the Fall. In the mean time I am juggling being mom and business owner, along with being a foodie/ farm enthusiast. I am looking forward to having more availability soon !
